Bob worked in the Linker-Landers Coal Mine near Dickyville until March 1942 when he and Velma moved to the Bill Hudnet Farm located in Sec. 17, Douglas Township Adams County which they later purchased. They were blessed with 7 children. Two of whom died in infancy. The five attended school in Nodaway and Corning, Adams Co., Iowa. They are: Joan married Marion Niemeyer, lives in Omaha, parents of four children, Frank,Debbie, Robbie, and Joe. Marion manages a paint factory.; Jeannie, married Larry Anderson, lives in Treynor , Iowa. They teach in Lewis Central Elementary School. Their children are Bob, Laurel, and Suzy.; Lois, married Paul Pfundt, an electrical contractor in Lincoln , Neb. She has three stepchildren; Todd, Kristie, and Jeff.;Dean, single, city surveyor, Ponca City, Oklahoma.;Diane, married David Bickford, Corning, Iowa. She works at the Veterinary Clinic. He works for Uarco.
The Timmerman's enjoyed horses. They were members of Corning-Massena Saddle Club. He was a county commissioner, being involved with creating the West Douglas watershed. They kept busy farming, raising their family. Always interested in community affairs. They spent much time with Velma's father and other relatives and friends.
Bob passed away Oct. 29, 1967, and was laid to rest in the Nodaway cemetery. Velma remained on the farm, keeping the children in school, renting out the land. She still lives in their cozy house by the side of the road which they built in 1949, with the help of her father, so there are lots of good memories keeping her company. Velma Timmerman
Velma Lois Timmerman, 90, of Corning died March 18, 2008, at Corning Nursing and Rehab. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at First Presbyterian Church in Corning. The Rev. Ken Rummer will officiate. Burial will be in Nodaway Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Pearson-Coen-Beaty Family Funeral Service, 701 Seventh St., Corning with the family present 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Corning Nursing and Rehab, Alegent Health Mercy Hospital or Just Friends.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Robert Timmerman Jr. and infant daughter Timmerman.
