LuVerne Marie Kuether, 92, a longtime Ephrata, WA resident and retired Bureau of Reclamation employee, passed away on April 19, 2006 in Stockton, CA. LuVerne was born to Charles and Rose Storla on March 19, 1914 in Appleton MO. She graduated from high school in Mitchell, SD and attended Dakota Wesleyan University receiving a teaching certificate in 1936. She taught the primary grades in Oacoma, SD for five years before moving to the state of Washington. There she met her future husband, Oscar F. Kuether, in Bremerton. They were married on June 1, 1943 and relocated to Ephrata in 1946. LuVerne and Oscar were married for 55 years. Mrs. Kuether was a member of the United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and was active in the Senior Center. She also volunteered her assistance in many educational programs helping students. LuVerne enjoyed teaching, traveling, reading, sewing, dancing and spending time with family and friends. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and devotion to others. Her spirit will continue on and she will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. Mrs. Kuether is survived by a son, Richard Kuether and his wife Judy of Tamarac, FL; two grandchildren, Dennis Kuether and his wife Anita and Marcy Cruz; three great-grandchildren, Isaac and Jessica Kuether and Daniel Cruz all of Florida; a daughter, Diane Harris and her husband Ron of Stockton, CA; three step-grandchildren, Lyn Greene, Karrie Walsh and her husband Michael, Michael Harris and his wife Magdalena, five great-step grandchildren, Lacy Asbill, Elizabeth Asbill, Oscar Harris, Micaela Harris and Wyatt Walsh all of California. She is also survived by a brother, Vernon Storla; a sister, Maxine Musick both of Mitchell, SD and many nieces and nephews. A family memorial service will be held in California and Mrs. Kuether will be inurned in the family's niche at Santa Rosa Memorial Park, Santa Rosa, CA.

He was buried on 12 March 2003 in Graceland Cemetery, Mitchell, SD. Lyle attended school in Storla and Minnesota and graduated from high school and Business College in Mitchell. He was employed as office manager for Sheesley Plumbing and Heating until his retirement in 1977. He loved listening to music and traveling. He enjoyed playing the guitar, developing his own pictures and loved children.
Lyle was crippled from poliomyelitis when he was young.

Ole Olsen STORLA⁷⁰ was born in 1790. On 14 Dec. 1812, Ole bought what became known as the Storla farm from Iver Eriksen Hengstad. The farm is located near Gol, Hallingdal, Norway. The farm is situated on a hillside. The number of acres in the farm is unknown. Since the farms in Norway are small, we can assume that this farm consists of ten or twelve acres. On 21 Feb. 1855, the father sold one-half of the farm to the oldest son, Ole (Big Ole), and the other half to Haavel. Then, on 23 Gev 1855, Big Ole sold his one-half interest to Haavel. Haavel in turn sold this same one-half interest to his brother, Ole (Middle Ole), on 26 May 1857.
In 1887, Haavel Storla dn his wife sold the farm to Brekke. Included in the transaction was free living quarters and five cows. This Brekke adopted the name of Storla. At the present time, a son (Svein Storla) owns and lives on the original Storla farm. Parents: Ole STORLA and Kari .
