I was born about 3 miles south of the Strand Lutheran Church on the old Ensign place in Adams County My parents moved to north of Corning when I was 4 months old where we lived for 10 years. Then we moved south of Corning where I attended high school. My mother was born in northwest Adams County in Lincoln township. I have her baptism certificate where I get my information from. My mother told us her father came to America when he was 18 years old from Norway and settled in Northwest Adams County. Where he met my grandmother and they were married Nov. 8, 1877. My mother was born 7 Aug. 1878 and he died 6 Oct. 1879. She then married Hans Torus Peterson 31 Mar. 1881. My father and mother had nine children; Arthur Chester D. 1981; Lila Belle, in Florida; Harvey John, D 1972; Letha May near Stanton, Ia.;Robert A. Merle D 1971; Myron Medford in Chicago; Kathryn Winnefred in Wisc; Olin Bernard in Afton, Ia.; Joe Eugene in Jefferson, Ia. There is six of us still living but scattered over 4 states. We have 3 daughters, Marilyn Jean (Messer) who works at the gift shop in Stove Pipe Wells, Death Valley Calif. She has six children. Most of them around Kansas City except her youngest son who is in the Marine Corps just arrived home from Okinawa. Pauline is a farmers wife living near Stanton, and Carolyn lives in Calabasas, near Los Angeles Ca. She works for an insurance broker. and her husband is an engineer at Puralator Tecnologies.
