Australia Trip- Darwin

September 2007

The first stop was at Mary River Lodge.  This site is located on the road from Darwin to Kakadu Nat'l Park.  We did a couple of river cruises.  One photo shows a pig lying by the edge of the river that had been injured by a croc.  We saw both freshwater and saltwater crocodiles, the freshwater ones being smaller and lighter in color and with a long narrow snout.  Also seen were wallabys and the darter birds, those with snake-shaped necks.  It was a surprise to find many termite mounds in the vicinity.
